Staining from coffee, wine, and smoking, certain medications, genetics and age can slowly diminish the power of your smile. Tooth whitening – a simple and safe procedure – can take years off your appearance and restore the brightness of you smile.

In-Office Professional Tooth Whitening

With Sapphire Professional Whitening, Dr. Ely can whiten your smile up to 12 shades in an hour and over 7 shades in just 30 minutes.

Sapphire Chairside Whitening Gel is a hydrogen peroxide formula applied by Dr. Ely.  When activated by the Sapphire light, whitening of up to 12 shades is often achieved in one hour.

The procedure is safe and will not harm teeth or gums. It is the only in-office system specially formulated to prevent sensitivity—making it the leading choice for safe, convenient, and effective whitening.

Sapphire Tooth Whitening is a one-visit procedure that does not require the use of a mouth tray.  A mouth tray and Sapphire Brilliance Toothpaste will be provided for at-home touch-ups to use as needed.

People with most types of discoloration can achieve lighter teeth through Sapphire Whitening Systems.  The type of stain you have will affect how much whitening you will experience.  Contact the office of Dr. Ely to learn how much tooth whitening you can achieve.

At-Home Tooth Whitening

Another option for patients considering tooth whitening is the use of an at-home tooth whitening system such as Opalescence.

At-home whitening of your teeth, under the supervision of a dentist, has been proven safe in clinical studies over a period of many years.  The primary ingredient in Opalescence is carbamide peroxide, which has been safely used to brighten the smiles of millions of people worldwide.  Opalescence 10% holds the American Dental Association’s Seal of Approval.

With your at-home dental whitening program Dr. Ely will take impressions of your teeth that will allow for custom trays to be made for your bleaching procedure.  The opalescence gel is placed in these thin comfortable trays and fitted over your teeth, bleaching out the discolored areas.

Results are often seen after one night. Optimum natural whiteness usually occurs when the process is continued for a week to 10 days.

Opalescence has proven effective on tens of thousands of smiles, reversing the effects of aging, coffee, tobacco and other stains.  It even works on tetracycline and fluorosis staining.

The duration of your tooth whitening results depends largely upon you.  The results may be permanent.  Practice good oral hygiene and brush normally, especially after consuming staining foods or beverages and results could last for years.  If you use staining substances like coffee, tobacco and red wine you may desire periodic touch-ups every couple of years.

Contact the office of Dr. Ely to learn which tooth whitening program is right for you.
